He held various managerial and executive positions, both at home and abroad, in international engineering companies as well as in medium sized companies. Through his various assignments, he acquired a well founded and broad range of expertise and detailed knowledge in finance & controlling, business development, strategy, business process optimization and turnarounds.

In 1989, after his studies of economics focusing on corporate planning and strategic technology and innovation management, he took a strategic planning/controlling position in a leading producer of plastic films, a subsidiary of Unilever Germany. As Project Manager, he has also been responsible for business process and cost optimization.

In 1992, he accepted the position as controller of the transportation segment at ABB Germany and contributed considerably to the segment’s turnaround. In addition, he has been actively involved in M&A, outsourcing and restructuring projects within the German ABB.

In 1996, he moved to ABB Headquarters in Zürich where he successfully developed and implemented the global project “Activity Based Costing”. The project resulted in a significant improvement of the transparency of existing business processes and their optimization.

In 2001, he was appointed Country CFO of ABB China where he assumed responsibility for a successful implementation of efficient management and financial controlling in functional areas under his responsibility as well as in subsidiaries. In this function, he was responsible for M&A, divestments and restructuring projects. Simultaneously, as CFO of an operating company, he was in charge of establishing and optimizing the finance, accounting, controlling, and reporting system. As Division Manager he successfully implemented Shared Services Centres and achieved the objective to standardize and improve the service quality.

In 2004, he repatriated back to Zurich to take responsibility within a global strategic project for the definition, layout, and implementation of key success factors and business process flows. Subsequently, he optimized the SOX 404 implementation.

Since 2006, he acts, among other functions, as business consultant and has been involved in projects in German speaking countries, in Latin & South America, as well as in Asia.
